Rule of Law and Human Rights
Hungary supports the efforts to make the International Criminal Court (ICC) 
universal and to successfully conclude the work of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) . Together with our European Union partners we strongly support national and international efforts for the implementation of the rule of law.
Hungary encourages the integration of Human Rights in all segments of the activities of the UN system. Within this framework, Hungary fully supports efforts aimed at strengthening the work of the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) , including its special procedures, country specific and thematic mandates.
Hungary is member of the UN Human Rights Council for the term 2009–2012.
Hungary considers an important milestone the creation of UN Women in order to place a special focus on women’s rights, women empowerment and the effective enforcement of those in the UN system and global and national levels.
We underline the necessity of the full respect of Humanitarian Law in the area of humanitarian aid, including the access of humanitarian workers, international and non-governmental organizations to the field, the guaranteeing of their safe and unimpeded activity and protection of humanitarian space.
