Hungary wishes to maintain its active contribution to tackling today’s global challenges such as international terrorism, cross-border organised crime, illegal drug trade, corruption, money laundering, and human trafficking.

In the framework of the fight against terrorism, Hungary finds it of utmost importance to contribute to the strengthening of the terrorism-related regulative framework. Hungary is determined to foster the implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy and the timely and successful conclusion of negotiations on the comprehensive convention on international terrorism.

We emphasize the role of preventive diplomacy and mediation, and attribute utmost importance to the prompt and adequate international reaction in conflict management. We support the initiatives of the UN Secretary General to strengthen the relevant sectors of the Organization.

We underline the special place of traditional values in conflict-management, especially in conflicts rooted in collision of different systems of values. Appropriate consideration shall be given to the connection between post-conflict recovery and development.

Hungary supports the efforts of the Secretary General in the implementation of the principle of the Responsibility to Protect.
