UN Budget

The UN's Regular Budget is set every two calendar years. It funds UN core activities, including conferences, economic development activity, public information activities and human rights promotion. In 2009 the Fifth Committee agreed upon a Regular budget of 5.156 billion USD for 2010-11. Hungary’s contribution to the UN regular budget is 0.291%, while European Union member states are together responsible for paying 38.9% of the UN’s Regular Budget and 41.3% of the UN Peacekeeping Budget.

Hungary is committed to paying all its contributions on time and in full in order to enable the Organization to carry out its mandates effectively.

The activities of UN specialized agencies and programs are almost entirely dependent on member states’ voluntary contributions. Therefore, Hungary finds it of utmost importance to support the functioning of these agencies and programs with regular financial contributions. It is our goal to maintain this donor activity in spite of today’s difficult financial climate.
