Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Crisis Management Centre

A Crisis Management Centre has been established in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, from 15 February 2005. The Centre was established in order to help and make more efficient the help granted to Hungarian citizens residing or staying abroad in the case of international catastrophes like the tsunami in South Eastern Asia in December 2004.

The Crisis Management Centre is continuously in the state of readiness. It is the minister, or in his absence the permanent state secretary, who simultaneously appoints the head of the Centre, and who may order the activisation of the system in case of a crisis situation.
