Hungary supports Morocco’s advance towards the European Union – László Várkonyi’s discussions with Latifa Akharbach, Morocco’s state secretary
| | | In the framework of the Hungarian-Moroccan foreign-ministerial consultation mechanism, State Secretary László Várkonyi received Ms Latifa Akharbach, the Kingdom of Morocco’s foreign ministry state secretary, for talks. The two sides agreed that Morocco plays an outstandingly active role in Euro-Mediterranean co-operation and in creating good conditions for the further deepening of both political and economic relations between Hungary and Morocco. Mr Várkonyi noted with appreciation Morocco’s active and balanced foreign policy, with which it significantly contributes to the strengthening of stability in the region as well as the successful struggle against terrorism. Mr Várkonyi assured his guest of Hungary’s support for Morocco’s further advance towards the European Union. He also strongly welcomed Morocco’s results in developing democracy and good governance, as well as the co-operation launched with the Budapest-based International Centre for Democratic Transition. The two state secretaries acknowledged the development of bilateral trade turnover, which in 2007 already reached 70 million US dollars, most of which is accounted for by Hungarian exports. Ms Latifa Akharbach, besides having consultations in the Hungarian foreign ministry, paid visits to several other governing institutions and economic organisations. (May 7, 2008) |
