State Secretary Jenő Faller met Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Titov in Moscow | | | State Secretary Jenő Faller of the MFA paid a visit to the Russian capital on June 16 and 17. Mr Faller discussed issues current in bilateral relations with the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Titov and Sergei Nachayev, head of department in charge of bilateral relations. The interlocutors were in agreement that Hungarian-Russian relations were successful, dynamic, substantive, and were developing amid a positive atmosphere. They judged as useful and fruitful the practice of holding Hungarian-Russian governmental consultations in respect of the maintenance of regular political dialogue based on mutual national interests and the encouragement of boosting economic-trade relations. At the same time, foreign ministry consultations were also judged useful – at the level of ministers, too. In respect of cultural co-operation, they agreed on supporting the Hungarian initiative to establish an intellectual forum called “Sárospatak Dialogue” (named after the north-eastern Hungarian town), which, to a significant degree, can contribute to the development of civil relations. Mr Faller and his Russian partners also reviewed various international issues. (June 17, 2009) |
