Education

He graduated in 1969 at the Comenius University, Bratislava. He received his diploma in 1974 at the Faculty of Humanities of the Eötvös Lóránd University of Arts, majoring in Hungarian language and literature, as well as English language and literature.

Employment

He worked as editor for Madách Publishing Company in Bratislava between 1974-1976. He worked at the Literature Department of the Hungarian Radio until 1983 as editor, and then as a columnist at the world literature journal “Nagyvilág”. He worked as the editor-in-chief of the independent daily “Dátum” and also “Magyarok”, a cultural monthly between 1989-1990. Between 1990- 1994 he was a Head of Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, later Deputy State Secretary. Between 1994-1998 he was a member of the 13th District Local Council in the MDF group. In 1998-2000 he served as the Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary in Warsaw, after which he worked as Administrative State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He led the Foreign Affairs Office of FIDESZ between 2002-2006. Later he worked as a freelance researcher. In 2008-2010 he taught in the Fasori Lutheran Secondary School of Budapest.

Member of the Board of Hungária Television Public Foundation between 2009-2010.
