H.E. János Csák (1962-)
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary accredited to the Royal Court of St. James's (2011-)
János Csák is an economist and sociologist. Before his appointment to Ambassador, he was a corporate executive, later a management consultant and private investor (Helikon Publishing, Heti Válasz). During his career he was a member of the board of directors and advisory boards of several companies in Europe, in the USA and Australia: he was the Chairman of MOL, Westel (now T-Mobile), the treasurer of Matáv (now Hungarian Telekom), and member of the board of directors of CA-IB Investment Bank. His advisory work included corporate strategy and finance, organisational development and leadership, as well as coaching. In 2009-10 he was a visiting fellow at The Heritage Foundation in Washington studying political economy.
In his spare time he translates literature and essays on social sciences from English. He is a member of the supervisory board of the Saint Francis Foundation, Déva ( Dévai Szent Ferenc Alapítvány). In 2003 he established the Kálmán Széll Foundation. In recognition of his economic and social activities he was awarded the Commander’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary in 2010.
He is married to Júlia Márton, they have four children.
