HE János Csák - Ambassador of Hungary
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary accredited to the Court of St. James's (2011-)
Ambassador Csák is an economist and sociologist. Before his appointment as Ambassador, he was a corporate executive, later a management consultant and private investor. During his career he was a member of the board of directors and advisory boards of several companies in Europe, in the USA and Australia: he was the Chairman of MOL (Hungarian Oil and Gas Co), Westel (now T-Mobile), the treasurer of Matáv (now Magyar Telekom), and member of the board of CA-IB Investment Bank. His advisory work included corporate strategy and finance, organisational development and leadership. In 2009-10 he was a visiting fellow in political economy at The Heritage Foundation in Washington DC.
János Csák has an MSc in Finance and Sociology, Corvinus University (Hungary, 1987), completed the Challenge of Leadership Program, INSEAD (France, 2000) and the Executive Program, University of Michigan Business School (USA, 1996).
In his spare time he translates literature and essays on social sciences from English. He is a member of the supervisory board of the Saint Francis Foundation, Déva. In 2003 he founded the Kálmán Széll Foundation. In recognition of his economic and social activities he was awarded the Commander’s Cross of the Order of Merit of Hungary in 2010.
He is married to Júlia Márton, they have four children.
