The 50th International Spring Fair

London's most distinguished charitable event, the traditional Interrnational Spring Fair, was held once again on May 12-13, 2009. The Embassy took its customary place at the event, which was supported personally by Ambassador Borbála Czakó and Embassy personnel.

The London Diplomatic Corps plays a major role in organising the Spring Fair, in which more than a hundred countries of the world are represented. At the same time it is a meeting place for many companies who come together to serve a worthwhile cause. Visitors can buy representative items from the stands of the participating countries. Hungary considers its participation both useful and important, affording as it does an opportunity to introduce its cultural, artistic and everyday life. All profits from the fair go to the ISS UK, a charitable organisation supporting the rights of children and families.

The Patron of the Fair is Princess Alexandra, to whom the Ambassador made gifts of Szamos Marzipan and items of folk art.

The Fair achieved its usual success, both in terms of presentation and the sums collected.
