London Visit of István Hiller Minister for Education and Culture

István Hiller Minister for Education and Culture paid an official visit to London between the 12th and 14th of January 2009. He participated in the International Learning and Technology Forum, a conference of world education ministers, where challenges facing education in the twenty first century were discussed by leaders in the field.

On 12 January the Minister opened the year’s inaugural exhibition at the Hungarian Cultural Centre (HCC), where our Ambassador Borbála Czakó was also present. The guests were welcomed in a speech given by the Director of the HCC Ildikó Katalin Takács.

The exhibition introduced illustrations by the painter Adrian Stokes and his Austrian born wife Marianne from the chronicle of their journey through Hungary. István Hiller spoke of the significant contribution which the hundred year old work of this husband and wife team made to the positive image of Hungary. In their beautifully prepared and illustrated book they introduced the landscapes and customs of Hungary to the British public.
