András Simor, President of the National Bank of Hungary, visited London between 9^th and 11^th September. By coincidence the international monetary crisis peaked at the same time, giving a special relevancy to the planned talks.

The President met Mervyn King, Chairman of the Bank of England. He also had discussions at UBS with investors interested in the Hungarian market and later gave talks at the investment banks Merill Lynch and Goldman Sachs. At the Hungarian Embassy reception he met representatives of the economic and financial press.
