On 1 October István Hiller, Minister for Education and Culture, began a three-day official visit to Scotland. He held discussions with Linda Fabian, the Scottish Minister in charge of EU affairs and foreign and cultural relations. In the course of his highly colourful and busy visit Mr Hiller met Joanna Bakerrel, Director of the Edinburgh International Festival, John Graham, Director of Historical Scotland, and Hungarian university students studying in Scotland.

In Glasgow Mr Hiller had discussions with Professor Seona Reid, Director of the Glasgow School of Art, and later signed a mutual cooperation agreement with Sir Muir Russell, Principal of the University of Glasgow.
