On December 3, 2011, Hungary and Ukraine celebrated the 20th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations. On this day 20 years ago, the Embassy of the Republic of Hungary in Ukraine was opened, as the first among the diplomatic missions of foreign states which started its work in the capital of independent Ukraine.
To commemorative this, a number of events were organized jointly with our Ukrainian partners. Firstly, a Roundtable held on December 1, 2011 at the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. The discussions were opened by Deputy Foreign Minister Mr. Pavlo Klimkin. On the occasion of the anniversary, the Hungarian Republic Embassy in Ukraine - with the help of Hungarian companies operating in Ukraine, - organized a gala concert, with great success on December 2, 2011 at the National Philharmonic of Ukraine: a concert of the Bartók String Quartet - one of the six best string quartets of the world. As the final event in the series of celebrations the Hungarian Embassy held a festive reception on December 13, which was attended among others by former President Leonyd Kravchuk, Minister of Emergency Situations Mr. Victor Baloha and Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Mr. Anatoly Tolstouhov.
