As an outstanding event in the Hungarian-Ukrainian border cooperation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary and the Carpathian Region have signed an agreement on cooperation in the implementation of development projects in the framework of the Eastern Partnership. The agreement was signed on March 30, 2012 by Zsolt Németh, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary and Ivan Baloga, Chairman of the Transcarpathian Regional Council.
To implement the projects the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary provides an amount of one million U.S. dollars. According to the plans, the Transcarpathian Region will complement this amount by another one million U.S. dollars.
The proportion of financial support for some projects may vary, but generally for all projects it must conform to 50-50%. Supported projects are selected by the Hungarian and Ukrainian party together from the list contained in the annex of the agreement, which may at any time be amended in writing by mutual consent.
