On September, 5th Secretary of State for Surveillance of Food Chain and Agricultural Management of the Ministry of Rural Development of Hungary Dr. Endre Kardeván visited the International Specialized Agroindustrial Exhibition "Agro-2012" in Kiev, opened by President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych.
Ont he same dates the Working Group on Agriculture of the Ukrainian-Hungarian Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation had a meeting chaired by the Secretary of State Dr. Endre Kardeván and Oleksandr Senn, Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine. At the meeting of the working group, a constructive and friendly discussion about the bilateral cooperation was conducted, with concrete results in several topics.
The collation of two important agreements between Ministries was finished and an agreement was reached on their signature int he near future. One of the agreements refers to the cooperation in plant protection and coordinated actions against the spread of plant pests and diseases. The object of the second agreement is the realization of the program of measures to eliminate rabies of foxes living in the border areas, starting from 2013 with the support of the EU.
Progress has been achieved concerning other topics of the agenda of the working group, such as land affairs, winemaking and wine tasting, as well as in enhancing cooperation on expert level. The Ukrainian Party also highly appreciates the close relations existing in the field of agricultural education and the use of Hungarian experience concerning growing seeds in Ukraine.
Secretary of State Dr. Endre Kardeván participated in the conference of medium agricultural strategy of Ukraine, which was opened with the presentation of Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Prysiazhniuk. During his visit in Kiev, the Secretary of State negotiated with Mykola Prysiazhniuk, and with Volodymyr Horzheyev, Head of the State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service of Ukraine.
