Dear Visitor!

The Singapore River runs through the city and used to be the lifeline of Singapore. It was here where the first immigrants jerked out a meager living and transform Singapore from an obscure fishing village to what it is today a great seaport and multi-racial world-class city.

Further down the river you can venture into Chinatown where you can sample local street food at the “hawker centers” and all things “Chinese” at its best. During the Chinese Lunar New Year huge celebration is staged at Chinatown. The Chinese forms the biggest proportion of the ethnic groups in Singapore besides Malays, Indians and others

Or find yourself in “Little India” a conglomeration of Indian shops where Fish Head Curry, or Northern Indian cuisine like the Tandoori Chicken can be found with a very traditional “wet market called the “Tekka Market” selling all kinds of foodstuff. During the Indian’s Festival of Lights the whole Little India is also lighted up in preparation for the event.

Arab Street where the earliest Arab immigrants came to Singapore and where now you can also find the Malays setting up eateries there and where you may be able to find the best Malay food. The Arabs are very closed related to the Malays in that they embrace Islam.

Next if you like more of the outdoors, discover a whole new world at the Singapore Zoo. Hailed as one of the most beautiful zoos in the world

Jurong BirdPark with over thousands of birds belonging to more than 600 species in conservation and in its natural settings.

Botanical Garden, a massive tropical garden featuring the largest orchid display some 60,000 plants and orchids can be found.

Or go to the Underwater World at Sentosa, the city’s closes island retreat to swim with the pink dolphins or dive with the Dugong.

Arts, Music & Festival, go to the Theatres on the Bay at “Durian” a name given to the Theater for Arts and Performance. “Durian” is actually the name of a local fruit with a very pungent smell and the locals love this fruit but not the foreigners.
