During his four-day visit to Moscow Géza Szőcs, the Hungarian State Secretary for Culture of the Ministry of National Resources on 8 February 2011, Tuesday met with his Russian college Aleksandr Avgyejevvel, Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation. At the meeting the parties studied the state of Russian-Hungarian relations and the possibilities to deepening the affairs. Géza Szőcs informed his Russian partner of the Liszt- anniversary, and emphasized the significance of the anniversary-related events in St. Petersburg. At the meeting the two sides have agreed in the importance of launching the Hungarian-Russian intellectual forum and they evaluated the steps taken so far and the way forward. During the talks they discussed the possibilities of further deepening the theatrical and cinematic cultural cooperation between the two countries and also the renewal of the cultural protocol between the ministries.
Geza Szőcs met the Hungarian-speaking translators of Russian literature at the Cultural Institute of Hungary.
Previously, on February 6, Géza Szőcs met with Yuri Ljubimov, the Director of the Taganka Theatre and reviewed the possibilities to extend the Hungarian-Russian theatrical co-operation.
