Not least the Republic of Hungary is interested of the fate of the Hungarian minority in Romania, its legitimate and democratic aspirations that concern the attainment of self-government  and of rights, in their role of consolidating this cooperation, real bridges for the development of relations. Hungarians from Romania and Romanians from Hungary make a significant contribution to develop bilateral relations. We see the Hungarian party’s (DAHR) special role in this activity, which is a governmental factor too, and is important not only from the point of view of the bilateral relations, being an important representative of the Hungarian community in Romania, but from the perspective of the cooperation with the EU as well.

An important theme is the thriving of the Romanian community living in the Hungarian Republic. Problems which the Romanians living in Hungary are confronted with were handled constructively. The reciprocal acknowledgement of diplomas issued by the accredited educational institutions, the renovation of the orthodox Romanian churches, the access of the Romanian Language and Literature Department of the University of Szeged to competitions for projects in Romania, the growth of the number of scholarships for the members of Romanian minority in Hungary at summer schools organized in Romania, the increase of number of books in the library of the Department, political representation and fighting the phenomenon of ethno-business.
