SHORT TERM STAY

(not exceeding the 90 days period)

Citizens of the Republic of Kosovo need to obtain a valid schengen visa in order to enter Hungary. We strongly recommend for applicants to apply for a visa as early as possible, but not more than 3 months before the actual journey into Hungary.

The Consulate of the Hungarian Embassy in Pristina is cooperating with Kosovo Post and Telecommunication Company - PTK in assigning appointments for visa applicants.

For appointments to submit your visa application call: 0900-200-200
(Please note that this is not a toll free number and PTK will charge you for the call.)

Applicants must book an appointment with PTK (0900-200-200) to submit their application. Waiting time for an appointment at the Embassy varies between 30 and 70 days. The processing time after appointment is approx. 10-20 working days.

In case of an emergency, such as a relative’s death or critical illness, the Embassy can set an earlier appointment or advance the date of an appointment. In these cases a letter of support from the hospital or a funeral director is required. For emergency appointments only please contact the Embassy’s Consular Section by e-mail (
consulate.prs@mfa.gov.hu), a scanned copy of the supporting letter is needed.

Family members of EEA and Hungarian nationals and holders of diplomatic passports may submit their application without prior appointment on Mondays and Wednesdays 10:00 to 12.00.

Entry conditions for foreigners under visa obligation for up to 90 days

Please bear in mind that a visa is only a preliminary permission for entry, which does not authorize its bearer automatically to enter the country. The traveller may be requested to provide proof of the existence of the conditions of his entry and stay in Hungary and, if she/he is not able to fulfil this, she/he may be returned from the border.

The visa application fee for Kosovar citizens is 35 Euros.
The visa fee must be paid to the Embassy's bank account. The bank account number will be given at the Consulate when you submit your application. We do not accept cash at the Consulate.

The visa fee shall be waived for applicants belonging to one of the following categories:

  • children under the age of 6;
  • school pupils, students, postgraduate students and accompanying teachers who undertake stays for the purpose of study or educational training;
  • researchers from third countries travelling for the purpose of carrying out scientific research;
  • representatives of non-profit organisations aged 25 years or less participating in seminars, conferences, sports, cultural or educational events organised by non-profit organisations;
  • family members of EU/EEA nationals (European Economic Area);
  • holders (third country citizens) of diplomatic and service passports.

Attention!

The visa fee shall be paid when the application is submitted.

The consulate does not charge any further fees other than those mentioned above for issuing a visa.

If the application for a visa is refused, the fee will not be reimbursed.
