Dutch sommelier awarded in gaining international reputation of Hungarian wines

The Hungarian Investment and Trade Development Agency (ITD Hungary), the Hungarian National Tourist Office and the Wines of Hungary Agency have agreed to work together to promote Hungarian wine and wine tourism abroad. Under the cooperation agreement signed on 5th of June 2009, the three organisations will organise joint trade development and promotional programmes on foreign markets. They will also bring foreign sommeliers and wine critics to Hungary. The agreement was signed at the 10th Pannon Bormustra, a wine-tasting event at which ten invited foreign wine experts and six Hungarian sommeliers together select the country's best 55 wines. „This year first time a foreign personality has been awarded, who made a great contribution in gaining more international reputation for Hungarian wines. Award has been forwarded in 2009 to Mr. Paul Op ten Berg, Dutch sommelier and wine journalist, including wrought iron wine cellar key and 100 bottles of different outstanding Hungarian wines” announced one of the founders of this prize, Mr. György Rétfalvi, CEO of ITD Hungary.
