20 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Hungary and the Republic of Moldova

Hungary recognized the independence of the Republic of Moldova on 26 December 1991. The diplomatic relations between these two countries were established on 16 January 1992. After the establishment of diplomatic relations, also in 1992, the parties opened their diplomatic missions in the capitals. The bilateral relations are regulated by over fifty treaties and cooperation agreements.

On January 16, 2012 H.E. dr. György Varga, Ambassador of Hungary to the Republic of Moldova, congratulated H.E. Mr. Iurie Leancă, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, and pointed out that the bilateral relations between Hungary and the Republic of Moldova are characterized by the developing and consolidating cooperation and friendly ties. Mr. Ambassador also expressed the hope that all events planned within the bilateral relation in 2012 will demonstrate constant and dynamic development and will be an indicator of friendly relations between Hungary and the Republic of Moldova.
