On May 30, 2008, H.E. Dr. György Varga, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Hungary to the Republic of Moldova presented his letters of credentials to His Excellency Mr. Vladimir Voronin, President of the Republic of Moldova.

In his welcome speech the Head of the Moldavian state emphasized the political importance of the good Hungarian-Moldovan bilateral relations. The President expressed his acknowledgement concerning the Hungarian contribution to the aims of Moldova concerning the European integration. Vladimir Voronin especially mentioned the important Hungarian input in the creation and functioning of the EU Border Assistance Mission, as well as the great importance of the Common Application Centre functioning at the Hungarian Embassy.
