Visit of Hungarian Ambassador to Tiraspol

On February 5, 2010 H.E. Dr. György Varga, Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary to Moldova and H.E. Mr. Serghii Pyrozhkov, Ambassador of Ukraine to Moldova met with Mr. Igor Smirnov, President, and Mr. Vladimir Yastrebchiak, Foreign Minister of the unrecognized Dniester Moldovan Republic.

The purpose of the diplomat’s visit was to invite two northern subregions of the Transdniestrian Region, Camenca and Ribnita, to join the Moldovan-Ukrainian Euroregion project called “Nistru”.

A visit of the would-be participants of the Euroregion “Nistru” to Ukraine, Hungary, and Slovakia is planned for the end of March. This visit will offer collection of experiences how similar co-operation projects are implemented in practice. Ambasador Varga invited the representatives of Transdniestria to join this delegation.

Mr. Smirnov expressed the readiness of the region’s authorities to participate in the abovementioned project.
