On May 8, 2009 the Ambassador of Hungary in the Republic of Moldova, H.E. György Varga inaugurated solemnly the Civil Society Library, initiated by the NGO “IDIS Viitorul” and founded due to the grant offered by the Ministry of Foreign Affaires of the Republic of Hungary.

The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the civil society, press and television, but also by the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Moldova, H.E. Mr. Keith Shannon and the Ambassador of Ukraine to Moldova, H.E. Mr. Serghii Pyrozhkov.

The projects goal is to help better inform the society about the publications of Moldovan and leading international NGO’s, as well as to facilitate the organizing of events with participation of the civil society’s members.

H.E. Mr. Varga, in his turn, expressed his conviction that the library will contribute to strengthening the civil society in Moldova.

The heads of the diplomatic missions underlined the importance of the project and expressed their readiness to support this initiative that promotes the European values and goals.
