INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE “THE DEVELOPMENT OF TRANSPORT NETWORKS CONNECTING BALTIC AND BLACK SEA REGIONS ”

In Chisinau, on April 23-24, 2009, took place the international conference “The Development of Transport Networks Connecting Baltic and Black Sea Regions ” initiated by Hungarian NGO “KIÚT” and with the active participation of the Ministry of Constructions and Territorial Development of the Republic Moldova.

The objective of the conference was to examine the possibilities and advantages of an international highway-network building, which would cross the territory of Baltic States Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Moldova, Ukraine and would fulfill the XXI century transport requirements.

In the conference participated Mr. Vladimir Baldovici, Minister of Constructions and Territorial Development of the Republic Moldova, Mr. Lajos Csepi, State Secretary for Transport from the Ministry of Transports, Communications and Energy of Hungary, Mr. György Varga, Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary in the Republic of Moldova et al.

The experts emphasized the importance of the project in the framework of the EU’s Eastern Partnership Initiative. During the conference the participants examined the project’s possible positive impacts on economical development, employment and infrastructural cooperation in the region.
