Visit of the Speaker of the Hungarian Parliament to Moldova

On September 16-17 the Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary Ms. Katalin Szili visited Moldova. During the visit, on September 16, took place the opening ceremony of the renewed Common Application Centre in the premises of the Embassy of Hungary in Chisinau with the participation of both Speakers – Ms. Katalin Szili and Mr. Marian Lupu.

The remodelling works at the Centre lasted three months, during which the Centre followed a special working schedule. After renovation, the Centre has five windows functioning for its clients.

Also during the visit of Ms. Katalin Szili, on Wednesday, September 17, was launched the first Twinning Program granted to Moldova by the European Commission called “Supporting the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova”.

Twinning is an EU project designed for the candidate states in order to gain experience on the implementation of the European legislation.

The project will be carried out jointly by the parliaments of France, Hungary and Moldova. The launching ceremony was attended by the Hungarian Speaker Katalin Szili, the Moldovan Speaker Marian Lupu and the Head of the Group of friendship with Moldova of the National Assembly of France, Claude Greff.

Katalin Szili informed that the Hungarian National Assembly would give the Moldovan Parliament all the support necessary to align its activity to the standards of the European parliaments.
