Educational system
As of the primary level, schools in Lebanon are teaching French or English programs. The 6-year primary school and the 4-year complementary school are followed by a state exam in order to pass to the secondary school. The late, a 3-year program, ends with the Baccalaureate state examination that leads to the university. Primary school is bilingual, teaching in Arabic and French or English, the third language starting in complementary school. Public schools do not exist in sufficient number, therefore, most of the children study in private schools. Universities in Lebanon are known for their especially high standards, mostly the public university (Lebanese University), the American University of Beirut and the St. Joseph University.
