Bilateral trade
In the first 10 months of 2005 the value of Hungarian exports to Japan was USD 291 million, which represents a 10% growth compared to the same period of 2004. The value of imports was USD 1.9 billion, which is a 32% expansion.
The main export items are: machinery products and components, frozen pork meat, pharmaceutical intermediate products.
The main import items are: integrated circuits, car batteries, electronic components, passenger cars.
Investment relations
The total value of Japanese FDI in Hungary is more than USD 2 billion. There are more than one hundred Japanese companies operating in Hungary.
In 2004 and 2005, large volume greenfield investments were announced by Ibiden, Asahi Glass, Bridgestone and significant re-investments were realized by Magyar Suzuki, Denso and Sanyo.
