Foreign Minister János Martonyi made an official visit to Jordan between 6-9 November 2010 as the first leg of his Middle East tour. During the talks Martonyi held in Amman with his Jordanian counterpart Nasser Judeh on Sunday they touched upon the topic of efforts to revive the direct negotiations between Palestinians and Israel. Special attention was made to Jordanian-Hungarian bilateral relations and ways of further enhancing mutual co-operation between the two countries. Martonyi told following the meeting that Jordan plays an outstanding role in the settlement of the Middle East conflict and the achievement of regional peace and stability. Jordan is ready to co-operate with Hungary in all relevant bilateral, regional and international issues. The Hungarian Foreign Minister and Nasser Judeh agreed on establishing a mechanism to deepen economic and trade co-operation. János Martonyi was also received at an audience by King Abdullah II.
