In the framework of the European Committee's project "Cultural Bridges" this year's spring time started the "EU Literature Goes Turkey/Turkish Literature Goes EU" literary program series with the contribution and cooperation of Turkish, German, Austrian, Italian, Greek, Bulgarian, Roman, Belgian, Swiss and Hungarian participants.
During the implementation of the literary project of the Goethe Institute in Istanbul "EU Literature Goes Turkey/Turkish Literature Goes EU" around 48 contemporary novelists in 24 towns in Turkey will present in their own interpretation their literary work translated into Turkish language. In the different places besides the interactive writers-readers meetings, several cultural programs, concerts, workshops and exhibitions will take place.
According to the suggestion of the Hungarian Consulate General in Istanbul the organizers requested the contribution of the following Hungarian personalities in two Turkish towns established cooperating ties with Hungary long ago:
Attila Bartis and György Dragomán in Kütahya between November 30 and December 6 this year. Professor Ágnes Várkonyi historian and Tamás Kobzos Kiss singer and musician in Tekirdag between March 29 and April 4, in 2010.
