Starting July 1st 2009 Turkish citizens seeking A, B and C visas to Norway may apply directly through The Common Visa Application Centre at the Consulate General of the Republic of Hungary in Istanbul. The Centre was opened in April 7th 2009 with the participation of Estonia and Slovenia and it is issuing more and more visas for travelers visiting these represented countries as this possibility becomes more and more known by the Turkish public.
The Norwegian Embassy, having no consulate in Istanbul of its own, has over the last years with increasing intensity sought a solution which would allow the citizens of the Republic of Turkey to apply for visas without having to go through the Embassy in Ankara. We are therefore grateful to the Consulate General of the Republic of Hungary in Istanbul, that enables us to offer this extended service at this point.
The Norwegian Embassy views this effort in the light of the continuing commitments and efforts of both Norway and Turkey to enhance the bilateral relations, and to facilitate ever increasing contact and communication between our two countries. We are convinced this service will contribute significantly in this respect.
