The Corvinus University of Budapest is today an internationally recognized institution in the areas of both education and research. Operating with seven faculties the University provides Bachelor, Master and Doctoral programs in the areas of economics, business, public administration, horticultural science, food science, landscape architecture and social sciences.

The Budapest University of Technology and Economics was founded in 1782, and it was the first institute in Europe to train engineers at university level. The University of Debrecen is the oldest institution of higher education in continuous operation in Hungary based in the same city. The University of Debrecen has a student body of 29,000, out of which 19,000 are full-time students. Its 11 university and 4 college faculties, and 21 doctoral schools undoubtedly offer the widest choice of majors and other forms of training.

The Eötvös Loránd University offers degree programmes at undergraduate (BA/BSc), graduate (MA/MSC) as well as post graduate (PhD) levels. Although the language of teaching is basically Hungarian, a wide range of programmes and courses are available in English and other foreign languages.

The Semmelweis University, as a specialized university, plays a unique role within Hungarian higher education. In addition to its prominent role in Hungarian health care, it also enjoys a distinguished international reputation, being, in fact, the first institution to be mentioned by the European Union when discussing health-related education in Hungary. University instruction takes place in three languages, and 1,500 of its 11,000 students are foreign citizens. Degrees obtained at the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Dentistry and the Faculty of Pharmacy comply with all European requirements, and medical diplomas are accepted in two American states.

Hungarian Dance Academy The state financed education of ballet students within an organized system began as early as 1937 at the Hungarian Royal Opera House which, in 1949, was complemented by the Dance Artist School. In 1950 the State Ballet Institute was founded by unifying these two institutions. It has had its present name – The Hungarian Dance Academy – since 1990.
