Ambassador Szilveszter Bus visited the Archbishop of Jakarta
Carrying on with the tradition of the previous years, Ambassador Szilveszter Bus visited the Archbishop of Jakarta during this year’s festive season. He expressed his holiday good wishes and respect for Archbishop Ignatius Suharyo for his activities uniting the Roman Catholic community in the capital of a country that has the largest number of Muslim majority. Ambassador Bus emphasized that one of the reasons for which Indonesia is a valuable regional partner for Hungary is that it showcases the proper direction towards the co-existence of democracy and the country’s main religion, the Islam.
According to Archbishop Suharyo, the number of Catholics in Jakarta currently is ca. 460 thousand, while nation-wide 6 million people are considered followers of the Catholic faith.
