Dear Sir/Madame,

Welcome on the site of the Consulate General of Hungary in Miercurea-Ciuc.

The Consulate of the Republic of Hungary in Miercurea-Ciuc is in the middle of an important transformation: from a small organization with national-political tasks into a larger, representative organization with duties related to citizenship besides other national-political tasks. Leading the mission is an uplifting experience, and a serious challenge: I am representing my country in my homeland.

The most important tasks of the Consulate General are: the participation in the process of the simplified naturalization; the professional and client-friendly management and execution of the complete procedure. We, the organization, my colleagues, and I, personally, do everything possible in order to provide a high-level service. According to our experiences, there is a huge interest in the Hungarian citizenship, and, regardless of the undergoing enlargement of our facilities, the organization is capable of accepting only a restricted number of application, and possesses limited capacities of processing them. As we reorganize the procedures, we will be able to provide new appointment-times, but in spite of our best efforts, the waiting period remains the same. With this occasion, I would like to let you know again that as long as the filing of the application, the obtaining of the citizenship, of the passport or of other documents is urgent, the applicant should apply in Hungary, at offices of the registrar, at regional offices of the BÁH (Office of Immigration and Nationality), respectively at governmental windows.

Besides the simplified naturalization services, I also consider an important task the representation of the interests of Hungarian citizens, and the offering of assistance to Hungarian citizens in trouble.

We accord special interest to the building of relationships in the fields of economy, culture, education, sports, and, in general, to human relationships as parts of our consular duties.

I am confident that the remarkably good relationship between our countries provides us with a favorable background and base for our projects, and makes possible the building of a mutually successful future. In this respect, I am counting on the support of my colleagues, of the press, of the authorities and, last but not least, on Your support.

I hope this site will provide You with useful information.

Dr. Barna Pál Zsigmond, Consul General
