On behalf of the Embassy of Hungary in Cyprus, I welcome every visitor of our website.
Cyprus, as well as Hungary, is currently in a difficult economic situation. My first year as Ambassador convinced me that this situation demands even more than before the cooperation between Cyprus and Hungary, two small countries with open economies. Our always friendly and harmonious relations through centuries were further developed by the fact that our two countries joined the European Union at the same time. Hungary, after a successful EU presidency, is ready to help Cyprus in fulfilling the tasks of the current EU presidency.
Our political and cultural relations are excellent, thanks also to Cypriots, who studied or currently study in Hungarian universities and colleges. Our economic relations are stable, but they are still far from their potential. Therefore, our Embassy considers the expansion of the economic cooperation as a top priority. Although bilateral tourism is growing every year, there are still untapped possibilities in this this field as well.
In addition to the various forms of consular assistance, it has been our pleasant task lately that, by taking advantage of the opportunities provided by the Citizenship Act, a number of our fellow citizens, who live or work in Cyprus take their citizenship oath and obtain the supporting documents that prove their belonging to the Hungarian nation.
