The European People’s Party held its summit on 11 January in Limassol, Cyprus. The event was attended by a number of heads of states and governments of the member states of the EU belonging to the EPP family, amongst them Prime Minister of Hungary Mr. Viktor Orbán. The main topics of discussion were the ways out of the economic crisis and the next 7-year multiannual financial framework of the Union. The working dinner focused at the hydrocarbon explorations of Cyprus as well as the country’s possible future role in the energy supply of the EU. Prime Minister Orbán also held a bilateral meeting with Mr. Nicos Anastasiades, leader of DISY, one of the leading candidates at the presidential elections to be held in February.
