A brief history of co-operation
Hungary was among the firsts to recognise Croatia after gaining her independence in 1991. Diplomatic relations at Ambassadors’ level were established on the 16th of January, 1992. During the years, the good Hungarian-Croat co-operation became independent from the countries’ internal political situation and the political set up of the Governments. By now this co-operation became example to the region in many fields. The high level meetings became regular, the Ministries keep daily contact and there is a vivid co-operation between the counties and the villages of the border area. In January 2006 and May 2007 Joint Government Sessions were held. The third such meeting has been scheduled for the autumn of 2008.
