Between the 1-4^th of September, 2008., Mr. Sándor Burány, State Secretary of the Ministry for National Development and Economy of the Republic of Hungary visited the North China Investment and Trade Expo, where a seminar was organized to promote the economic, trade and touristic opportunities of Hungary. During this visit, Mr. Burány and Mr.Wang Huawen, assistant of the governor of Jilin province inked the Economic and Trade Cooperation Agreement between the Republic of Hungary and Jilin province of the People’s Republic of China.

Between the 2-6^th of September, 2008., Ms. Márta Schneider, State Secretary responsible for culture of the Ministry of Culture and Education of the Republic of Hungary held talks in China. Ms. Schneider discussed the issue and the conditions of the Hungarian participation as honorary guest at the Beijing International Book Festival as well as the further introduction of the cultural values of Hungary - among others - with Ms. Li Dongdong, vice-president of the General Administration of Press and Publication of the People’s Republic of China and Mr. Chen Jiangong, vice-president of the Chinese Writers’ Association.
