Consular Information
Consular fees are to be paid in Canadian dollars only. If the client personally submits his/her application, payment is only accepted in cash. In certain cases the Consular Section may waive the obligation of personal submission and accepts applications sent by courier. In these cases payment of the consular fee should be made by money order or a certified cheque to the order of the Embassy of the Republic of Hungary.
Since the consular fees were determined in Euro by the central Hungarian authorities, prices in CAD may vary according to the fluctuation of exchange rates. For current rates please call the Consular Section in Ottawa.

IMPORTANT! (Registration of life events in Hungary / Citizenship determination process)
Dear Clients!
We hereby inform you, that according to rulings of Section 2 of Par. 52. of Act 140/2004. and the respective Canadian practice the Consular Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Hungary can only accept original copies of Canadian certificates of life events (birth, marriage, divorce, death) submitted for Hungarian registration or as attachment of citizenship determination process. Photocopies, even when authenticated by a notary public will be rejected. Pursuant to the above act and practice, these documents need to be legalized by the consular section, so fees of diplomatic legalization (28,- CAD) are added to the previous fees.
