Upon the invitation of Ms. Nina Mazay, Chairperson of the Standing Committee for Foreign Affairs and National Security of the Council of the Republic of National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus a delegation of the Hungarian National Assembly visited Minsk between 3rd and 6th February, 2010. The delegation was headed by Mr. Gábor Hárs, Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Hungarian National Group, head of the Hungarian team of deputies at the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. Members of the delegation were Mr. Gyula Szabó, Chairman of the Hungarian-Belarusian friendship group of the National Assembly as well as Ms. Katalin Ádám Somfainé, secretary of the IPU Hungarian National Group.
During their stay the delegation was received by Mr. Sergei Batura, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and by Mr. Anatoliy Rubinov, Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic, deputy head of the Belarusian-Hungarian friendship group of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus. The delegation also met Mr. Sergey Maskevits, Head of the Foreign and CIS Affairs Committee of the National Assembly, Ms. Svetlana Gerasimovich, chairperson of the Minsk County Council of Deputies and Mr. Valeriy Voronetskiy, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Belarus.
The delegation met at the Hungarian Embassy with certain opposition politicians and representatives of Belarusian NGO-s. During this meeting the parties exchanged opinion about the internal political situation in Belarus and the co-operation of the EU and Belarus.
The delegation of the Hungarian National Assembly also visited Belkommunmash Co. where they got acquainted with trolleybuses and trams produced in co-operation with Hungarian partners.
During their stay the head and members of the delegation informed the representatives of the mass media by giving interviews after certain visits as well as during a press conference organized at the Embassy.
